1. Hello, thank you very much for agreeing to participate in this interview. For starters, can you briefly introduce yourself to me? Where are you from, how old are you and what are you studying?
Hello, I am 21 years old, I come from Duga Resa and I am studying in the second year of the Technical Polytechnic in Zagreb. When enrolling in college, I have chosen the field of information design. So far I have learned to do HTML, SVG and I am currently learning EX Design and graphic techniques – Photoshop, Design Illustration and Python.
2. Why did you choose this particular study?
From a young age I was fascinated by computers and by then I already knew I wanted to work in IT. I showed great interest in programming and in the beginning I actually wanted to be a programmer, but as the years went by, no matter how much I love programming, I realized that the visual side is also good for me. I have been working in Photoshop since I was 13 and I have been editing videos. When I realized that I had the opportunity to enroll in IT design, I didn’t think too much.
3. Where do you see yourself in the future? What do you want to do?
When it comes to the future, I hope to have the opportunity to work in this profession, I would very much like that. I would love to do websites and apps. I certainly hope that soon, while I am still a student, I will have the opportunity to do a student job that I have not been able to find so far due to my difficulties.
4. Where do you find motivation for learning and working?
In high school, my motivation was to come to my desired college, that is, to study informatics, while today the fact is that I love what I learn and do. Even though the tasks are simple, I like to do something that I am proud of later, rather than just doing it.
5. How much does the success you achieve motivate you to achieve your next goals?
Enough, when my book was published, it motivated me to keep writing, when I enrolled in computer design it encouraged me to go back to an area I thought would be just a hobby and every time something like that happens I have more confidence and I always try to surpass what has already been achieved.
6. How did the KnowIT d.o.o. scholarship helped you?
The scholarship really helped me a lot and I am grateful for that. I had to pay for a dorm room, so most of the money went to it, and the other part I had left helped me to be more financially free – I got my software licenses and I’m currently using a Maxon package that I got myself thanks to the scholarship. I also helped my parents so they could settle my cell phone bills.
7. Do you have anything to say to young people, students like you? What is the secret of your success?
I would tell young people like me to never take no for an answer. By that I mean that if someone tells them that they will not succeed in something, they should not give up because of those words and firmly believe in themselves and their desires. The secret of my success is that a lot of people believed in me and still believe.
